The 8th Annual Global Bioinformatics Education Summit (GBES) comes to Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India for the first time during September 28-October 2, in-person in Mexico City and online via Zoom.
The GBES is a working meeting that gathers bioinformatics educators and other experts to address challenges in bioinformatics education and workforce development. Participants will share successes and challenges, and the outcomes of the conference will set priorities and issue calls to action. This year the summit will be in collaboration with Bioclues.org, India’s bioinformatics society along with her annual conference series Indian Conference on Bioinformatics (#InBix2026). While #InBix2026 is scheduled from october 1-3, #GBES2026 happens to be from September 28-October 3, 2026. The conference brings together several bioinformatics leaders from India, global south and abroad, it aims to bridge the gap between the global north and the global south. The event also addresses key strategic events and calls to action to academics, policymakers, industry and student organizations, all aimed at supporting competency building in and the adoption of upcoming trends in education, such as AI and other best practices in bioinformatics training.
