Call for Nominations: The Bioclues Innovation, Research and Development (BIRD) awards for 2026 are now open. The deadline is August 2, 2026, 1800 hrs IST!
We initiated the Bioclues Innovation, Research and Development (BIRD) awards in 2011 to encourage Bioinformaticists and Genomicists in India who have made outstanding contributions in Bioinformatics and Functional Genomics. This award recognizes not just academicians but also scientists who have shown exemplary excellence in Bioinformatics. While scientists working for not-for-profit organizations will be given importance, those working for commercial organizations are equally exceptional if their research has been widely honored and made longstanding contributions. The award selection is highly competitive, involving several rounds of interviews. The awardee will receive a plaque and a citation with a certificate. The awardee will also be invited to join the Bioclues Executive Team (BET). The call for nominations covers two categories:
- He or She is under 40 years old on or before December 31st of the current nomination year
- He or She is under 50 years old on or before December 31st of the current nomination year
The nominee MUST be a life member of Bioclues
Self nominations SHALL NOT be entertained.
Selection will be based on scientific merit, nomination letter, scientific/technical evaluation and an online interview.
Women scientists are highly encouraged to be nominated.
The applicant should be nominated by his/her mentor or a colleague.
Nominations must be submitted online.
The society reserves the right to extend the deadline or annul the award for the year if deserving nominations are NOT fulfilled.
The following are the requisites for assessment:
- Is a Life Member of Bioclues.org from India and active in promoting Bioclues and posts
- Promoted international standards for R and D in India.
- Created novel models/opportunities or Bioinformatics based tools.
- Mentored student researchers and published in reputed journals.
- Secured grants for organizing international events and activities in support of Bioinformatics and Genomics
